WIZARD TATTOO

"When God Had Hands" (Garage Fire; 2026)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

From the WTF genre, comes Wizard Tattoo's "When God Had Hands," an eight part concept album that marries blackened metal and other creepy genres with mostly spoken word vocals that sound as though they're passages from a novel or clips from a movie.

It's really fucking weird.

Atmospheric. Mind-bending. Haunting. Eerie. "When God Had Hands" thrums along at a funeral pace, soaking your brain with ethereal doom. Despite the gloom, you'll find yourself wanting to listen again, not particularly to re-live the experience, but to pick up the lyrics you might not have heard (or misheard) and, trust me, there will be a lot of them.

Unique and dividing, there may not be anything else like Wizard Tattoo's "When God Had Hands" out there. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is the listener's decision. In other words, it's up to you.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
