PARALYZED
"Rumble & Roar"
(Ripple Music; 2025)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Apparently, this is the fourth album from Paralyzed and all I can say is, "Where have they been all my life?"
"Rumble & Roar" is almost forty-two minutes of heavy, bluesy guitars, soulful vocals, a vibrant and expressive rhythm section, all of which combines to create a vintage sound that's still somehow fresh and new. The sound is kind of like what you'd get if The Doors were a heavier blusier band with a little stoner edge. Add to that, some Rolling Stones-ish funk and some killer guitar leads and you've got one absolutely fascinating band.
My favorite tracks were the slow burning and very Doors-ish "Rosie's Town," the self-description track, "Heavy Blues," the ultra bluesy "Leave You" and the atmospheric "The Witch." Honestly, however, there isn't a bad track to be found here.
If you're yearning for some classic 70s-style music with a heavier kick, "Rumble & Roar" is what you're looking for. The best news here is that now I can go back to the band's previous three albums and experience them for the first time.
