MESSTICATOR

"Total Mastery" (Testimony Records; 2026)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

There's a word that came immediately to mind as I listened to Messticator's "Total Mastery," and that word was velocity.

It's not that these eleven tracks from the thrash/death metallers are fast and furious (although most of them are), but rather they have their own style and their own pace. You can almost feel the driving metal patterns as the tracks play through, with their razor guitars, their pummeling rhythm and the growling (yet not annoying) vocals.

"Total Mastery" will have you banging your head, begging for a mosh pit, and raising your fists in the air. It's refreshingly catchy, lyrically intelligent and sounds great really loud. Fans of the genre will undoubtedly find Messticator's "Total Mastery" to their liking.
