MARK LAHIVE

"Infernum" (Odin's Eye Inc; 2025)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Good music is good music. You can’t explain it, you can’t predict it, you can’t put it in an algorithm and, let me tell you, if it could be foretold, someone would have already figured that out, for sure. When it hits you, good music usually slaps pretty damn hard.

Take my current project for example, Mark LaHive. When you go by name alone, it sounds like this guy should be fixing your plumbing, not blowing the shit out of your speakers. The name of the recording is "Infernum" and it rocks from start to finish. And, when it was over, I listened to it again (well, actually, I did that four times). Let me tell you, it just got better after each spin.

Not only did "Infernum" make my ears bleed, it tickled my brain just enough to make the entire experience most enjoyable. The vocals sound like something I have experienced before; however, when I try to get the background on this band, I come up with zip, nothing. I'll keep researching.

Now, the lack of information on the band is nothing new. However, I do find it kinda strange that the bio of this band is not on the internet (as far as I can tell), and that in itself is too strange to be a coincidence Is “Mark LaHive” a singer and/or a band that does not want to take credit for this release? Or are they just waiting for the right time? Either way it is very cool.

The last song is called "The Black" and, of course, it rocked balls just like all the music on this recording; however, right before the song ended and the music is just about to close out, there was this creepy vocal that say "I was never here." Any way you look at this band, it is a way awesome musical experience that I highly recommended.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
