This is one of those reviews that must start out with "Well, it might just be me, but ..." because, honestly, Kikker's "Hard Hitting Rock & Roll" didn't really grab my attention. Well, not 100%.
Each of the four tracks on this EP sound like demos. They don't sound finished. They sound like songs and recordings put down by a band to be re-visited later to put a little more detail in, to be tweaked a little here and there. As they are now they sound rushed and in need of refinement. They each sound a whole lot like the other.
Still, there's enough here to make you realize that there's something that this band's got. I like the guitar tone, especially on the opening track, "Struck by Lightning." And the vocal style has a unique twist that's all it's own. I mean, if I walked into a bar and these guys were playing, I wouldn't turn around and walk out. They probably sound great live.
Just not so much here.
Again, that might just be me. Check them out yourself and see if you disagree. If you do, let me know. Hell, if you don't, let me know. I'm very curious as to what other rock fans think about Kikker.
(By the way, for what it's worth: Pavement tells us this is a self-titled EP; Amazon says it's called "Hard Hitting Rock & Roll." You be the judge!)

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
