"High Roller" is a glam rock album packed with all the trappings and clichés of that particular brand of rock'n'roll. It's got chunky guitar riffs, straight-forward vocals, throbbing rhythms and lots of lyrics about sex and rock'n'roll.
It's an absolute blast to listen to.
Sure, it's old school. Sure, it's just a chunk of trashy glam rock. But, man, it's fun. So much music today takes itself so damn seriously. "High Roller" doesn't do that. It just rocks and rolls and makes you wish you were in a club like Hollywood's Whiskey a Go Go, sipping on a Jack Daniels, and watching this band perform on stage in front of a bunch of tightly leather-clad women.
There's a ton of party anthems here, songs that'll make you want to pump your fist in the air or at least bang your head, even a little. I don't know about you but I miss this kind of music. I mean, my favorite band is Motorhead, so it's not like Fire 'N Ice's tamer Quiet Riot/Starz sound. But "High Roller" reminds you that, once upon a time, hard rock was fun and, apparently, it still can be.
