If you thought that "Silence of the Lambs" featured the first
appearance of Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter, think again. Lecter
first appeared on-screen in this film by director Michael Mann
("Heat"), based on the Thomas Harris novel "Red Dragon," the
prequel to "Silence of the Lambs." In "Manhunter," William
Petersen (of TV's popular "CSI") stars as Will Graham, a serial killer
profiler who so immerses himself into the minds of the killers that he almost
succumbs to their insanity. Graham is on the trail of a serial killer known as
"The Tooth Fairy," because of the jagged bites he takes out of his
victims. During the hunt, Graham must pay a visit to the most notorious serial
killer of them all, Dr. Lecter (here played with chilling effectiveness by Brian
Cox) and ask him for his help in unraveling the "Tooth Fairy's" mind.
"Manhunter" is a mesmerizing, suspenseful film, worthy of its sequels.
This release is available in a number of variations including a
