...The bad news is that Nuclear Blast Records have closed their U.S. offices. The good news is that Century Media and Nuclear Blast have joined forces the form what has been described as a "Metal Monopoly." However, Oliver Withoeft, CEO of Century Media, states, "It's not our intention to become a monopoly, but we are excited about the opportunity to be working together with one of the world's premiere metal labels." Adds Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger, "Through this alliance between Century Media and Nuclear Blast a lot of things will change for the better, because both companies will be able to benefit out of the other company's knowledge and both companies can combine their power to become even more successful." Sounds like a merger that will certainly benefit the metal community! Can't wait until 2001!!...

...After vocalist PHIL ANSELMO fell and broke two ribs, PANTERA has announced that they will have to postpone their upcoming tour, the first time the band has had to do that in 14 years of touring. Says Walter O'Brien, Pantera's manager, "He fell. Big deal. No story. Slipped and fell, OK? Like a person." Jeez, Walter, lay off the caffeine. Adds Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, "We all just spoke with Philip, he feels terrible and it's just humanly impossible to sing with two broken ribs, All four of us just want him to heal quick so we can get the hell on the road. We know that all of our fans were eagerly awaiting the tour and will be very disappointed, as are all four of us. It was an accident and it couldn't be helped. We have every intention of hitting all the cities that we were going to play on this leg of the tour. We look forward to seeing everyone in the new year." Scheduled for the weekend of March 10 - 11, 2001, UltraSound 2001 will move from Las Vegas, NV to Burbank, CA because, says organizer Dave Tedder, "People love to go to Las Vegas but the main attraction is the hotels and that took away from the showcasing bands a little bit. Not only that but the home of hard rock and heavy metal will always be Los Angeles so it only makes to sense to 'bring it on home again'." The convention will consist of two days of live bands and panels ranging from Music & The Internet to Publicity/Press, A&R and several other mediums.
