...Fred Durst, frontman of #1 best-selling LIMP BIZKIT, has been named Senior Vice President of Interscope Records. Yes, you read it right - in addition to his Limp Bizkit duties, Fred is now Mr. Durst, executive. Says Durst, "I'm proud to have this position, but it means nothing unless I take the title and put it into action. Interscope has already done amazing things to shock the world, and now I'm going to come in and create a musical revolution." In addition to his frontman duties, Durst will also handle various A&R duties for Interscope, as well as the signing and marketing of bands, producing, remixing and shooting videos. Although the remaining bandmembers were sorry to see Stahl go, they continue to work on their next album, due sometime this fall on a label to be decided. Stahl's exit has forced the band to cancel their previously announced appearance at the Woodstock festival in Rome, NY...
...MEGADETH welcomed WCW champion Goldberg back into action on July 5 with a live performance of their new single, "Crush 'Em," from their forthcoming album "Risk," due in stores on August 31st. It was the band's first televised performance of the new tune, which is grabbing a lot of attention on the national rock and radio charts, as well as being featured on the upcoming "Universal Solder II" soundtrack and at Dodger Stadium and NHL playoff games. ..."Avenue B" is the name of the upcoming album by rock legend IGGY POP, due in stores on September 7th. The CD, produced by Don Was (who also produced Pop's 1990 "Brick By Brick") features ten new tracks by the legendary rocker, as well as the spoken word vignettes. In typical Pop fashion, most of "Avenue B" was recorded at a converted meat packaging plant in the East Village. Pop is expected to tour later this year...
...WHO bassist JOHN ENTWISTLE has signed with J-Bird Music Group to release THE JOHN ENTWISTLE GROUP's debut album, "Left For Live," due in stores on July 13th. The album highlights the group's 1998 tour and features "905," "Success Story" and "Had Enough", songs originally written by Entwistle for THE WHO. Said Entwistle: "I feel that I have left my legacy on this album, at least until the next one comes out. This band is the best thing on eight legs since Boris The Spider."...
