...The Hard Rock Café company recently purchased over $300,000 of KISS memorabilia during the band's recent auction. Says Barrie Lapins, acquisitions manager and music memorabilia expert for Hard Rock, "KISS is a unique band because it appeals to so many different generations. The new KISS memorabilia expands on our existing collection of a complete set of KISS costumes, guitars, dolls, drums from Peter Criss, a tail worn by Peter Criss, a blacklight poster and photographs of the band. We are constantly looking to expand the music experience that guests have in our cafes." There must be some truth to what Lapin says: So far, the Hard Rock Café company has purchased nearly $32 million dollars on about 63,000 items of all genres of rock'n'roll collectibles. There recent KISS purchase included 22 KISS memorabilia items, including a set of four life-size mannequins dressed in black leather from the group's 1998 Psycho Circus Tour. In addition, nine original prototype KISS guitars were acquired, including the original Gene Simmons guitars used on the Psycho Circus Tour and the Hot in the Shade Tour as well as the Paul Stanley guitars used on the Alive Worldwide Reunion Tour and the Crazy Nights Tour...


...Speaking of KISS, the band's recent "Farewell Tour" rang up well on the list of best-selling concerts. Following are the top ten acts people paid to see this year:

...According to a report, JOHN CORABI will ankle UNION (at least for the moment) to tour with RATT as a guitarist. Corabi will NOT be taking the mic, however, as that job has gone to JIZZY PEARL...


...THE BEASTIE BOYS and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE have confirmed their opening acts for the upcoming "Rhyme & Reason 2000" tour to begin on August 2nd. (Click here for tour dates). ...After the Friday, June 30th "Penchant for Violence" tour, some scumbag stole ZAKK WYLDE's original trademark "Bullseye" guitar and a replica. Zakk is reportedly devastated by the theft because the guitar was a graduation present his mother (now deceased) and dad as well as the guitar on which he wrote his first song with Ozzy. ...Apparently, the European tour of STRATOVARIUS went very well. When all was said and done, the band released this statement: " Dear Fans! No need to name countries in specific but there were few countries where we never thought we'd be so popular. Shows were sold out and people knew all the songs. ...The new CD by DIMMU BORGIR will be recorded in August/September and will be released in winter of 2001. The band is currently looking for a producer and will probably record the record in Oslo, Norway...


...JIM WILLIAMS will take over guitars and KARL ROSQVIST will handle drums for STEEL PROPHET after previous bandmembers Kevn Cafferty and John Pons left the band. The band will release a new album, "Genesis" in August...


...SLASH will finally release his second solo album, "Ain't Life Grand," on September 26th. Legendary producer Jack Douglas and Slash recorded the album for Geffen/Interscope but the CD was never released due to a falling out with the label. A new agreement with Koch Records put the release back on the schedule. In the rumor department: Slash may be one of the opening acts for the AC/DC tour beginning August 1st. Stay tuned...


...DYING FETUS has signed to Relapse Records. The band's CD, "Destroy the Oppression" will be released in October. DYING FETUS will join DESTRUCTION and KATAKLYSM on a three week tour beginning July 20th and including a stop at the Milwaukee Metal Fest...


...ROB ROCK will release his first solo album, "Rage of Creation" on July 26th. The new CD was produced by Roy Z, one of the best producers in the metal business. Says Rock: "I have talked about doing a solo album for a few years now and finally the timing seemed right and it all just came together. I think we have managed to put together a high quality melodic metal album that touches on a lot of different aspects musically. The songs are great and the performances are so real! You can feel the energy we had making this record and the love for the music shows. This is the best album I've ever recorded!" Also appearing on the CD are drummer Reynold Carlson, bassist Ray Burke and, on two tracks, Jake E. Lee on guitar...
