...Ever had one of those days when you just had to bust something up? Sam Rivers of LIMP BIZKIT has. The band's bassist, apparently frustrated with technical difficulties he was experiencing with his instrument, suddenly decided to smash the thing to bits then and there. In his rage, he gashed his hand and began to bleed profusely. Temporarily halting the show, Rivers was off to the hospital where he received ten stitches for his troubles as the crowd patiently waited. About an hour later, Rivers returned to the stage where Limp Bizkit finished the show, much to the relief of the fans (and, we're sure, the promoters)...


...FOUR DEGREES KELVIN, aka 4DK, will play the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood on July 2nd at 9:45PM. The band plans to soon hit the studio to record their first CD. ...Legendary punk rockers ILL REPUTE have re-formed and have been in rehearsals for the past couple of months. Making up the band are Tony Cortez on vocals; Forrest Lorenzana on guitar; Chuck Schultz on drums and Deek Dixon on bass. In addition, the band is considering a name change from ILL REPUTE to SOCIETY'S ROACH. Sources tell us that the new music is fast and very heavy...


...Sad news from the local scene: Doug Clark, 18, of BLACK OPAL was killed in a car accident just two weeks before his high school graduation. A benefit show was held in his memory at the Ventura Theater. And tattoo artist Zan Gray, 29, whose work is featured on many a musician in the area - was killed in a plane crash recently. Zan was a well-known and highly respected tattoo artist whose work had appeared in Savage magazine...


...KISS will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later this summer. Though no exact date has yet been set, common sense tells us that it will be sometime this August to tie in with the release of the KISS-themed movie, "Detroit Rock City." In other KISS news, there has been talk that KISS will begin its "Farewell Tour" this September, ending on January 31st, 1999...


...The SMASHING PUMPKINS, complete with an officially re-joined Jimmy Chamberlin, are currently in the studio working on their next record, due sometime this fall. The new release will be produced by Flood who also worked on the band's "Mellon Collie" and "Infinite Sadness."...


...The classic CJSS recordings, "World Gone Mad" and "Praise the Loud" have been re-released on one repackaged and remastered CD entitled "2?4?1." In celebration of the new release, the band will reunite for at least two shows in Cincinnati on August 6 and 7 at the Blue Note. CJSS features David T. ...JARNO KESKINEN and his band KENZINER are in the studio, putting the finishing touches on their upcoming CD "The Prophecies." The band's previous release, "Timescape" won rave reviews for its symphonic metal sounds. For more information, please visit http://www.kenziner.com...


...Demand for the forthcoming "Fields of Yesterday" by LILLIAN AXE has been so great that Z Records had to ship 2,000 additional copies of the CD from Europe to the U.S. "Fields of Yesterday" should be in stores next week...


...Police in Boston had to cut short an impromptu performance by LIMP BIZKIT after the band decided to play from atop a parking garage there on Sunday, June 13th. The live show was announced by radio station WAAF at 4:00 PM and began at 5:00 PM but was cut off after only about 25 minutes when police decided that the clogged streets, blocked business entrances and fans hanging from lampposts got to be too much. Said Bizkit singer Fred Durst, "It was great because we got to do it our way, the Limp Bizkit way -- the only way." The band played 4 1/2 songs, stopping in the middle of "Stuck" when the cops pulled the plug. The band's latest album, "Significant Other" will be released on June 22nd to be followed by a national tour...


...Speaking of LIMP BIZKIT, the band will take part in a live chat at http://www.twec.com on Monday, June 21st at 10:00 P.M. PDT to promote their "Significant Other" release due the very next day. Two autographed guitars will be given away that evening to participants in the chat...


...Can't get to an OzzFest show this year? Feel like life is hardly worth living? Well, don't give up hope yet because three OzzFest shows will be offered live over the internet at http://www.Ozzfest.com. First things first: BLACK SABBATH will hold a one-hour online chat at 6:00PM EST on Wednesday, June 16th at http://www.blacksabbath.com/chat. All four original members will answer questions from fans around the world. This chat - entitled "Suppertime With Sabbath" will be the last ever online chat by the veteran band. The live Ozzfest shows will take place on June 10th from the PNC Arts Center in Homedale, New Jersey: the second will air July 1 from Float Rite Park in Sommerset, Wisconsin and the final webcast will air on July 24 from Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore, California. The July 24 show from California will be the last live performance ever of the original BLACK SABBATH - a true piece of rock'n'roll history. Check the website listed above for more information. ...Universal Records will release the soundtrack to the upcoming film "American Pie" on June 29th. The soundtrack to the raunchy comedy will feature new tracks from TONIC, THIRD EYE BLIND, DISHWALLA, SUGAR RAY, BLINK 182 and GOLDFINGER. Also included on the CD are DAN WILSON of SEMISONIC, THE ATOMIC FIREBALLS, SHADES APART and more...


...AUSTIN POWERS is tearing up the box office and - if you're one of those people who helped generate that huge gross - you'll love the new CD from Beast Records entitled, "Music To Shag By." Contained on this psychedelic CD are those groovy songs you'd expect to hear in an Austin Powers film, from THE TURTLES' "You Showed Me" to "A Groovy Kind of Love" by the Mindbenders to the DUSTY SPRINGFIELD classic "The Look Of Love" (from the original Austin Powers' movie, 1967's 'Casino Royale") to TOM JONES "Without Love (There is Nothing)." ...RHINO RECORDS  will release "ALTERNATIVE PRESS PRESENTS: INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MACHINE MUSIC: THE FRAMEWORK OF INDUSTRIAL ROCK 1978 - 1995" a long-titled collection of industrial music pioneers and disciples. Featured are sixteen tracks including THROBBING GRISTLE's "Hamburger Lady," "Yu Gung (Futter Mein Ego)" by EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN, SKINNY PUPPY's "Dig It" and MINISTRY's "Stigmata." Also included are two unreleased tracks, the first a cover of OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN's "Physical" by REVOLTING COCKS and a live version of "Gave Up" by NINE INCH NAILS. The CD will hit stores on September 14th (jeez, that's a long way away!)...


...The lineup for the soundtrack to the upcoming KISS film, "Detroit Rock City," has been announced. Featured on the album are a brand new song from KISS called "Nothing Can Keep Me From You" as well as a new recording of the classic "Detroit Rock City." Also included on the album are MARILYN MANSON, THE DONNAS, EVERCLEAR, CHEAP TRICK, BLACK SABBATH, THE RUNAWAYS and ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA. Apparently there is still some question as to whether PANTERA or TED NUGENT's version of "Cat Scratch Fever" - or perhaps both - will appear on the CD...

...GODSMACK's self-titled MCA Records debut - which is selling like hotcakes everywhere - will no longer be sold at K-MART and Wal*Mart stores. An organized group of parents in Cleveland complained about the album's obscene language and other material and the chain stores chose to pull the CD from shelves. ...MARK WAHLBERG, last seen in "The Big Hit" and "Boogie Nights," is in talks to star in the apparently unofficial life story of 'RIPPER' OWENS, the JUDAS PRIEST tribute band singer who went on to score the lead vocalist position in the real JUDAS PRIEST when original Priest vocalist ROB HALFORD left the band. ...From "Love in an Elevator" to "Love in a Roller Coaster": AEROSMITH have joined forces the the Walt Disney company to create the "Rock'n'Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith," a high-speed thriller ride that will take riders into a recording session with the legendary rock band and then on a wild limo ride through Hollywood. Says Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, "When you've toured the world as much as we have, it's a real thrill to find a new audience. Coming up with a soundtrack for this Disney ride really brought the kid out in all of us and has given us the opportunity to play audio gymnastics with our music." No official word on when the roller coaster will open to the public...


...The new MEGADETH album, entitled "Risk," will hit stores on August 31st. In addition, a new track from the album, "Crush 'em," will appear on the soundtrack to "Universal Solder: The Return," starring Jean Claude Van-Damme, due in stores on July 13th. The band recently filmed a video for the song - which will also be the first single from "Risk" - which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and WCW champion Bill Goldberg. Said Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, "Wrestling is aggressive much like our music, especially in its presentation and the fans are equally fanatical - I think we will all like each other. As a martial artist, I respect Van Damme and Goldberg's athletic abilities and look forward to working with them." "Risk" was recorded in Nashville, with "Cryptic Writings" producer Dann Huff at the helm...


...Veteran rockers YES will provide a brand new song from their forthcoming album, "The Ladder" for Relic Entertainment's PC game, "Homeworld." Jim Veevaert, director of marketing for Sierra Studios, said, "Homeworld is the perfect game to warrant this huge promotion with Yes because of the broad appeal of the game. We found perfect partners with Beyond and the members of Yes and all agreed to embark on this relationship of historic proportions since it's never been done this way before." Adds YES-man Jon Anderson, "I phoned Alex [CEO of Relic Entertainment] after learning that we could work one of our pieces of music into his games. I just loved the way that he had formed the game visually and the story line was very similar to our lyrics, in that we're all trying to find our way home."...


...L.A.'s KROQ-FM radio station has announced the line-up for its seventh annual KROQ Weenie Roast and Luau in Irvine, California. This year's show, which will take place on June 19th, will include, BLINK 182, EVE 6, The FREESTYLERS, KID ROCK, LIMP BIZKIT, LIT, LIVE, The LIVING END, LO-FIDELITY ALLSTARS, METALLICA, ORGY, PENNYWISE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SMASH MOUTH, and SUGAR RAY. ...Z Records has announced the "nearly completed" lineup of the English supergroup ARABIA. The band will consist of Michael Shotton (Von Groove), lead vocals; Steve McKenna (Ten), bass; Alan Kulke, lead guitar/vocals; Ged Rylands (Ten/Waysted/Tygers of Pang Tang), keyboards; Pete Frank, lead guitar/vocals and Brian Dixon (Cathedral/Torino), drums. ARABIA will record and release an EP later this summer and will tour the U.K. in late 1999. A full-length album is due in early 2000. ...Pop songstress SHERYL CROW has recorded her own version of the GUNS'N'ROSES hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine" for the upcoming soundtrack to the Adam Sandler film, "Big Daddy." Co-produced by Rick Rubin and Crow, the song will also be included on all future pressings of Crow's latest CD, "The Globe Sessions."...


...Seattle's RORSCHACH TEST have entered the studios to begin recording thier second release, due to be released on September 14th. The new CD follows the band's debut, "Unclean" which received a four star rating from Guitar World magazine...


...Also in the recording studio are N17, working on their second CD, currently entitled "Defy Everything." N17 won Best Industrial Band at the New Times Music Showcase in both 1996 and 1997. "Defy Everything" follows the band's successful debut, "Trust No One"...


...DROWN will release a limited edition EP this month, entitled "Kerosene." Featured on the EP will be four versions of "Kerosene" including an all-star version featuring DROWN and Ryan Shuck of ORGY, M.C.U.D. of (hed)pe, Ty of Videodrone, D-Haus of 20 Dead Flower Children and the Corporate Avenger.
