...After too damn long, the legendary
ROB HALFORD is returning with his new band, known simply as
"Halford," and a new CD called "Resurrection," due out on August 8th. In addition, Halford will be joining
IRON MAIDEN (you've heard of them) for the entire two month leg of Maiden's North America tour before spinning off and heading down to South America, Japan and Europe. Joining Halford in the band are Patrick Lachman and Mike Chlasciak on guitars, Ray Riendeau on Bass and Bobby Jarzombek on drums. Roy Z (who, frankly, Maiden should have used for "Brave New World) produced the CD, working with Halford over 18 months to make the sound that Halford wanted to make. Says
Halford, "This album is by far and away the best work I have ever done in my solo career and the reactions from everyone involved are the same as from everyone who's heard any of the tracks. It's bloody amazing! The guys in the band are awesome players who are completely on my wavelength so it's been a total blast writing, recording and playing with them. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt this enthusiastic and fired up about my music! The title of the album says it all! I'm back and I'm definitely staying!" Featured on the DVD will be over 100 minutes of unused scenes "unearthed from a salt mine in Kansas." ...Reports have it that Joe Comeau has left OVERKILL to join ANNIHILATOR as vocalist. Comeau, formerly the lead vocalist for LIEGE LORD, announced his departure from Overkill just as the band was heading into the studio to record a new CD. Overkill fans shouldn't worry, however, says the band's Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth. "There's no reason to panic," Blitz said, "We're making an Overkill record, like we always have. We don't highlight any particular individual." Sounds to us like we've got two interesting projects to look forward to...

upcoming CD, "Brutal Planet" (due on June 6th) is going to be rather, well, brutal. Says Cooper, "I
wanted tot take their energy of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, LIMP BIZKIT or KORN. Some
people might have wanted me to go back to the 70s rock Alice, but it's just the opposite. I wanted it to be, Here's Brutal Planet, a
frightening place run by a great big, angry machine. And we're right in the middle of it." Cooper, one of rock's true
