The following was released regarding the Malevolent Metal Fest
2001:
Are you thirsting for the most aggressive, intense music that the east coast has to offer, yet tired of
paying corporate prices for admissions, outrageous parking fees, and expensive food? Then
you have to check out the first annual Malevolent Metal Fest on July 21, 2001. This festival has a line up
of more than ten all metal bands promising a day of loud, aggressive, original music
from bands all across Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio.
What makes the Malevolent Metal Fest unique among all the other music festivals around the area?
At the MMF, you can do one thing that you are not typically allowed to do at other
corporate-sponsored events: bring your own beer, park your RVs, pack a sleeping bag and tent,
bring a grill, and grab a spot to set up camp for the weekend at no extra charge! This year the MMF
will be in Tune Town, just a few minutes outside of Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 21, 2001. Tune
Town is an outdoor concert arena situated on 60-acres of grounds, with a full-size,
fully-covered professional sound stage and over 30 acres of concert and camping grounds with 20 acres of free
parking.
Mushroomhead, from Cleveland, OH, is headlining the Malevolent Metal Fest in 2001. They have recently signed to the independent label Eclipse Records and are currently on tour to promote their latest release. Their music is described by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as "sophisticated, juxtaposing dense, staccato, Ministry-inspired tempos with spacious melodic passages and dark lyrics that don't merely rely on repeated swear words.
Even though Mushroomhead's music stands on its own, in order to fully appreciate this rising group, they have to be experienced live. Their vaudevillian stage show is not easily described in words.
Also on stage this year, and the band responsible for organizing the Malevolent Metal Fest, is Dragon Fire, from Altoona, Pennsylvania. Snarling apocalyptic lyrics about deceit, corruption and a world-gone-to-hell, they attack each song with uncompromising precision and aggression, savage and relentless beyond emotional control. At a Dragon Fire show, fans know they will experience metal at its best. In November 2000, Dragon Fire's song "Cutting Dead Weight" was voted number one on Farmclub.com by thousands of fans across the globe, giving them the opportunity to be heard by millions of music fans and dozens of record companies and producers across the nation.

...TED NUGENT will release "Full Bluntal Nugity" on June 5th. The new live CD consists of Nugent's performance at the Palace of Auburn Hills on December 31, 2000 and contains performances of Ted's biggest hits. Says Nugent, "When I saw what we were doing in 2000 on the KISS tour and the outrageous intensity and enthusiasm and energy, the tightness and the attitude and the spirit of what Tommy and Marco were bringing to my classic and historical songs and new stuff, I said, 'we've gotta capture this shit!' So we set up mics and recorded on New Years Eve. The energy that night metastasized like some kind of cancerous, monstrous positive beast. And that's what we capture. When you're playing live you don't have to worry about how it's recorded, how it's produced, how someone thought the record could be better facilitated via a studio maneuver. What you're getting is the beast untamed in his wild environment." In addition to "Full Bluntal Nugity," Spitfire Records will also release several of Ted's catalog CDs, including "Penetrator," "Little Miss Dangerous," and "If You Can't Lick ‘Em, Lick ‘Em."...

...STRYPER will reunite and perform on May 19th at the Second Annual Stryper Expo on May 19th at the Felix Event Center at Azusa University in California. Says drummer Robert Sweet, "I don't think Stryper should have ever split up. I think that if you have something that's good then you shouldn't just give up on it. If you can still have an opportunity to move people and have fun, and you feel it's your purpose, then you should go for it regardless of the obstacles in your way." Recently, a musical recording called "eN - words of a Frenchman" was released the Music Industry, this recording was billed as the work of "one person".
In 1998 the band VISIONARY began work on this product as a whole. After completion of all writing and recorded tracks of VISIONARY'S new album, the keyboardist /engineer /producer resigned from the band, keeping all the recorded material.
He then altered the mix to his personal liking, created a new band entity "eN" , then promoted and began distributing the album without the consent of anyone in VISIONARY.
Though legal action can be slow and incredibly profitable for music lawyers, the right to free speech is...Free.
The remaining members of Visionary are speaking out to you and our fans. We plan to release our original version that will represent all members the best possible and give the fans an authentic product from the actual writers of this album that created it over 2 years.

...FLOTSAM & JETSAM bassist Jason Ward was surprised to find that the band's new CD, "My God," was already available in its entirety on Napster as well as up for auction on E-Bay. Says Ward, "I would have thought it would have taken a bit more time for it to hit the music stores first , but apparently the press copies have made their way there first. All I can hope for is that people like it and we can move some actual product as a result, but I really don't know what will happen. I think our record label my have more to say about it though." (Editor's note: We still have our copy, Jason!). Ward, who has criticized METALLICA in the past for their stance against Napster, added, "It does feel strange to know that the work we have done is now free to anyone who has a PC. Just the time invested alone by the band costs us a bunch, and as it is now Flotsam has a hard enough time paying the bills. It does raise the question of how much more of an impact will this make on the lives of the members in this band who have yet to experience the benefit of a large paycheck for their work. Hopefully what the people who fight for Napster say is true and we will see it translate into more exposure and ultimately record sales. All I know is that musicians now have one more potential obstacle that appears to lower the value of what it is we sell, our music. Either way, it does feel weird to know that a release date seems meaningless now."...

Says SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes, "It was a serious honor to work with Ice on this track. I've wanted to work with Ice since '93 when I was still in CANNIBAL CORPSE and we opened for BODYCOUNT at Metalfest. I've been a fan of his music for years, and I want to let you all know this song kills!! Ice wrote some sick lyrics for his part of the song, and I haven't been able to stop listening to this since we recorded the track. It's very, very aggressive, and I'm really proud of what we did on this one. This is in no way rap-rock or anything like that." "True Carnage" will be in stores on August 7th.
