...The new KING'S X CD, "Please Come Home, Mr. Bulbous," will be in stores on May 23rd. A review by Mr. Kelter will be forthcoming...

...JON BON JOVI,  who appears in the upcoming World War II submarine film "U-571," wishes that the film's PG-13 rating had been extended just a wee-bit further into R-rated territory. Apparently, during the film, Bon Jovi's character is killed off with a blast to the head. Unfortunately, in order to keep that kid-friendlier PG-13 rating, the motion picture ratings board insisted that scene be cut. Says Bon Jovi, "It's a slow-motion shot of my head being blown off in front of (co-star) Matthew McConaughey. The ratings board for PG-13 said that it had to go. It's unfortunate." Instead, Bon Jovi's character apparently simply disappears from the film. (Don't worry - we're sure he'll reappear on the DVD edition)...

...THE WHO are one of those bands that have played their fair share of "Farewell" tours. Regardless, the legendary rockers are back in action again, releasing a set of live songs available only over the Internet and planning a U.S. tour beginning this summer. Live versions of "My Generation," "Substitute," and "Won't Get Fooled Again" were recorded at the band's recent charity reunion shows at the House of Blues in Chicago and at the Shepherds Bush section of London. ...KLANK debuted their new video, "Blind," on April 8th during Much Music's Loud program. The single debuts on radio on April 25th...

...Dwell Records will release "Return of the Mountain King: A Tribute to Savatage" on July 11th. The CD will also be released in Europe with four bonus tracks and negotiations are under way for a South American release as well...

...They're not gonna take it from conservative Republicans. That's right: TWISTED SISTER has endorsed Al Gore for the next President of these United States. This despite the fact that Twisted leader Dee Snider and Frank Zappa locked horns with Gore's wife, Tipper, in 1985 during a Senate hearing regarding warning labels. Says Snider, "I'm sort of supporting Al Gore, which is bizarre. I don't trust the guy as far as I can throw him. He's a conservative liberal, but I think he's going to chew up George W. and spit him out. He's an old-school, dirty-fighting politician.'' Snider also admires Gore's stand on the environment: "To me, everything else is moot if you don't have a planet to battle on,'' Snider says. "He's a big environmentalist. He's stood up for environmental issues in the face of a lot of hostility.'' Adds Twisted guitarist Jay Jay French, who also supports Gore, "If you're not a player, you're not going to get anywhere, and anybody that thinks otherwise is nuts,'' French said. "I like insiders who have power and can get things done.'' Finally, guitarist Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda said, "The whole PMRC thing I've put to sleep. I'm not too crazy about having Tipper Gore as first lady, but she hasn't gone after that in a while. I think it was a bad experience for her as well as everyone else." We're guessing that Ted Nugent is backing George W. Bush but which metal stars are supporting (yeah, right) Pat Buchanan?...

...RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE came away with five awards at this year's California Music Awards. The band won Outstanding Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album for their new CD, "The Battle of Los Angeles," Outstanding Group, Artist of the year, Outstanding guitarist (Tom Morello) and the Arthur M. Sohcot Award for Public Excellence. The California Music Awards, of course, were previously known as the Bammies...

...JOBOJ's second CD, "Orange," has been licensed by MTV shows "The Real World" and "Undressed" for use in the programs. The agreement allows for MTV to use all 13 tracks of the "Orange" CD, as well as the remixed single. Both programs will air new episodes beginning June 2000...

...The debut CD by 3 DOORS DOWN has been certified Gold by the RIAA, having sold over 500,000 units in just eight weeks...

...Citing his profanity-laced comments regarding those who don't speak English during his opening act for KISS, The League of United Latin American Citizens is organizing a boycott of TED NUGENT. "We're not objecting to his right to free speech,'' LULAC director Charles Flores said, "The way it was said we feel it was directed in hatred at Hispanics. I'm sure he could have worded it better." Nugent, of course, disagrees, telling the Houston Chronicle "How can you be a benefit to your family, neighborhood or country if you can't speak to your fellow citizens? C'mon, if you can't speak English, get out of America."...

...JACKYL frontman JESSE JAMES DUPREE offered the following comments regarding his upcoming solo CD on V2 Records: "I don't know how obvious it will be to listeners, but I definitely hear my influences in this music. It's got a different backbeat, a different pocket, than anything I've ever done before. To accomplish that I've got Roman Glick, who's the bassist for BROTHER CANE,  whose career has paralleled mine. I've also rekindled a working relationship with guitarist, John Hayes who just slams. He lives in Amsterdam for obvious reasons and he's literally a smokin' guitar player, if you will." JACKYL fans needn't worry about the meaning of Dupree's solo CD. Explains Dupree: "Jackyl is not broken up. This [album] is not an issue with them, and with that in mind, they can appreciate the fact that I'm doing some different stuff." The CD, entitled "Foot Fetish," is due out on June 6th...

...Roadrunner Records, who have brought us such incredible bands as SEPULTURA, TYPE O NEGATIVE, MACHINE HEAD and STAR STAR (okay, three out of four ain't bad), are now pushing THE WORKHORSE MOVEMENT. According to Roadrunner, THE WORKHORSE MOVEMENT combines "elements of '70's funk, arena rock, and even some reggae in a high-energy live setting which will leave your ears, and eyes, wanting more. "House Blend" is a very entertaining short film that walks the wire from "cutesy" to serious in its short 18 minutes. PRETTY BOY FLOYD appears as the bar band and several of their songs are featured in the production. Mark plans on taking "House Blend" through the festival circuit...

...HELARAGE is hosting an April Fool's party at the Red Cove in Ventura, California beginning around 10:00 p.m. The evening includes a wet t-shirt contest, Lemmy, Ed Van Halen, Dancing Girls, wire hanger nipple stacking acts, Chris Holmes of W.A.S.P. and the Bud Girls. ...Metal Blade Records held a CD release party for the new ARMORED SAINT CD, "Revelation" at the Rockhouse at the Garage (I know, it's confusing) in Los Angeles. The band joined about fifty partygoers who ate, drank and listened to Armored Saint music from the early days through "Revelation." A good time was had by all, the music sounded great ("Revelation" is hot) and the band will soon be on the road. Click here for tour dates...

...SHY has signed with Z Records. The band - whose line up now features Tony, Steve, Roy, Paddy and a session drummer - will record a new album over the summer for a late 2000 release...

...GREGG BISSONETTE will release "Submarine," his new album on Favored Nations Records, on April 25. The CD features guest appearances by ROBBEN FORD, JOE SATRIANI, GARY HOEY and STEVE STEVENS and the cover art was done by "The Simpsons" animator John Achenbach. The Sex Pistols cannot be explained...

...TONIC will perform live at the " American Pie' Master Baker Bake Off" event at Universal Citywalk in Universal City, California on May 15th. The event is a promotional event in support of the video release of "American Pie" for which TONIC performed the song "You Wanted More."
