It's weird that a news organization that depends on free speech for its livelihood couldn't see the artistic merit of what we have done. In addition, the magazine was aware of the art several months ago when we sent out the album to review. I understand their response at that time was something to the effect of 'why didn't they get the real 'v' artwork directly from us so it would look better. If our logo reminds someone of their logo, it's because their logo is a symbol of the Hollywood entertainment industry that we have a right to parody; the way they would on Saturday Night Live or something. It's just a social comment. Now several months later, they want to cause problems for us, it's pretty sad."...

message to the band's fans regarding their upcoming CD, "Leaders, Not
Followers," due on October 5th.
"We are currently in Foel Studios in Mid Wales (the middle of nowhere),
which is actually owned by Dave Anderson who was the original bass player for
Hawkwind (before Lemmy even), which rocks, of course. Everything is working out
really well, and we have tried a few different methods of working here, which
have really helped my voice. I am using the microphone as I would live, which
helps to really get the full roar going. Guitars are sounding heavy as anything,
and as we have given ourselves just about the right time in the studio - as per
usual - it helps to keep us on our toes so everything sounds pretty vital. Shane
is doing his usual tractor impressions with the bass, which is nice. We're
currently at a race to the finish, so everything is starting to shape up
properly with the only distraction being the mist that hangs over the valley
most mornings...and the sheep! A few titles for you as we chalk 'em
off...'Instruments Of Persuasion,' 'Morale,' 'Striding Purposefully Backwards,'
'Climate Controllers,' 'Sold Short,' plus of course the title track 'The Code Is

...While in New York promoting his new DVD, "Steve-O: The Early Years," the inimitable Steve-O proved himself the master of mutilation marketing by giving himself a new tattoo on the Howard Stern Show with a 12-inch butcher knife. Then, on the John McEnroe Show, Steve-O stapled his stomach, squeezed fresh lemons into his eyes and let McEnroe serve his best tennis ball ... which the former tennis pro delivered into Steve-O's own tennis balls. Finally, on "Last Call with Carson Daly," Steve-O was forbidden to break a light bulb and slice his tongue by network safety policies, but still managed to drink a soda while upside down without spilling a drop.
