...Like hundreds of thousands of others, SUPAGROUP were hit hard by Hurricane Katrina. The bandmembers were forced to evacuate their homes. Says the band’s Chris: This is Chris from Supagroup writing from a hotel in Memphis, TN. Benji (whose back is much better, by the way, thanks for all the emails) and I evacuated to Memphis this weekend, while Brueggen and Leif went home to Chicago and Pineville, LA, respectfully. Reports are that no one will be allowed back in New Orleans for a few weeks, and even then, there will be no power/water/sewage for four to six weeks. Hopefully we'll get a tour soon so that we have a reason to be out of town. Reports are that it didn't flood too badly in our neighborhood during the storm, but now the city is filling up with water due to several levy breaches. I'm glad I'm not stuck in New Orleans right now, but if I were, I'd be wishing I had some sort of heavy protection. It's totally “Road Warrrior”- style down there. Anyhoo, to sum up, I don't know when we can go home or if we even still have homes. But at least we're all alive and safe, and that's what's really important. Thanks for all the concerned emails and calls, I'm sure we'll be back on the road as soon as we can get our gear out of that God-forsaken city... and that's the best news we could hope for.”...
