XE-NONE

"Dancefloration" (Chaotic Noiz; 2011)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Xe-None are Russian "Dance Metal," much like Rammstein are Tanz Metal (dance metal) in Germany. This band has a female lead singer and she can really power the songs! There is a dance element with each song, keyboards, funky electronics. Xe-None are not as heavy as Rammstein but the crunchy guitar and pounding drums will blur the line between hard rock and dance music.

Xe-None also has a guy co-lead singer and he grunts, growls and basically attracts you to the male element of the music. All of the songs are in English so you don't need a translator, just a dance floor to bust your groove. Having spent my time in dance clubs I always longed for this type of music, heavy but with a dance beat to keep you moving. Some of the bands that Xe-None pull influences from are Cradle of Filth, Fear Factory, 2 Unlimited and Scooter.

The guitar is nasty on each song and has killer riffs to boot, plus, Fucker, (yeah, that's his name), often has a breakout solo that will surprise you. These guys have been shaking up the dance metal scene since 2004. This is their second full length disc and, by evidence of me playing this unique stream turned up to 10, I'd say they are going to start a movement, and not just on the dance floor. Give Xe-None a listen and discover a new band to put into heavy rotation on those boring days.

Xe-None: Lexy Dance – lead vocals; EvilAnn - lead vocals; Fucker - lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar; Newman - keyboards; Push – drums.
