WASTED ACES

"Wasted Aces" (Twin Dragons Records; 2005)

I love dark and twisted shit just as much as the next guy, but I do not like smut for the sake of smut. Filth must at least have some kind of storyline, some humor, some reason for being. It doesn't have to be much, but it has to be there.

Wasted Aces is a rock'n'roll band that likes to sing about smoking cigarettes, drinking beer, having sex, shooting guns and -- with all those things going for it -- it still just isn't very good music. Their brand of metal-meets-punk has no kick and the band tries too hard to be disgusting and, hence, fails in their attempt to entertain.

I mean, come on guys. It went from bad to worse with the last song, "Touch Me Where I Pee," with a chick on vocals.

Wasted Aces was wasted time.
