"Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice" (Lava Records; 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

So here is another three cut sampler and it's hard to review because three tracks does not give you a true sense of what a band can really do.  I don't blame the band ... sometimes three tracks is all you can afford to record ... but it doesn't make it any easier on me.

All that being said, "Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice" is jauntily likeable. The music herein is a cool mixture of alternative rock and punk that  I found entertaining, if not spectacular. And it's difficult not to enjoy any song with a title like "Celibate Good Times."

I don't know if Vaux's unique sound would hold me throughout an entire full-length CD but at least what I hear on this EP makes me want to find out.
