"Jackass The Movie: The Official Soundtrack" (American)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Maybe it's a great collection of songs. Maybe it had the good fortune to capture all the fun of the movie. Whatever the reason, the "official soundtrack" for the hit film "Jackass: The Movie," is one of that rarest form of successful soundtrack beast: A genre-crossing, 14-track (15, if you count the hidden track) CD that runs the gamut from punk rock to heavy metal to rave to rap - and still makes you want to put it back in your CD player time and time again.
Featuring tracks by such well-known and varied names as Andrew W.K. (an honorary Jackass himself), the Ramones, Slayer, the Misfits and Sir Mix-A-Lot, and lesser known names such as The Rezillos, Smut Peddlers and Detroit Cobras, the "Jackass" soundtrack may go all over the place genre-wise, but it never strays far from its original message, which is to "just have fun." If you've seen the television show or the film then you know what I'm talking about. "Jackass" the soundtrack would make a perfect CD to play at your next party. There's something hereon to please every guest and each song says "Have a good time!" (Okay, maybe Slayer's 'Angel of Death" doesn't say that, but it rocks, right?)
Some versions of this release also include a DVD that contains bonus videos, trailers from the film and other footage. Unfortunately, however, there are no new Jackass stunts.
