"Daredevil: The Album" (Wind-up Records)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

The Rob Zombie / Drowning Pool collaboration on this CD, the rock soundtrack to the hit film starring Ben Affleck, is so good it's almost enough alone to make the entire CD worth purchasing. Zombie and Drowning Pool have created a song that combines the best stuff from both bands, and the end result, "The Man Without Fear," is easily our favorite track on the CD. I've listened to this CD probably half a dozen times since I received it, but I've played the Zombie/Drowning Pool song at least twice that many times.

But "The Man Without Fear" isn't the only reason to buy the "Daredevil" soundtrack. The CD contains 20 tracks from well-known and not-so-well known bands and - here's the kicker - they're all new. Unlike other soundtrack releases that load a soundtrack up with a bunch of catalog stuff while teasing the buyer with two or maybe three new songs, "Daredevil" is all new material. And it's all pretty damn good.

Yeah, some of the tracks are a little slow and touchy-feely, and some are much more obviously radio friendly than you'd prefer but never enough to distract.

Without going through every track, a few favorites are: Seether's "Hang On," "Learn the Hard Way" by Nickelback, Paloalto's "Fade Out / In," "High Wire Escape Artist" by Boysetsfire and "Raise Your Rifles" by Autopilot Off.

A complete tracklisting follows:
1. Fuel - "Won't Back Down"
2. The Calling - "For You"
