TOTTENKORPS

"Tharnheim: Athi-Land NHI; Ciclopean Crypts of Citadels" (WW III/Mercenary Musick; 2001)

Reviewed by Rose Grech

Tottenkorps, a Brazilian death metal band, has released their first full-length album, entitled "Tharnheim: Athi-Land Nhi; Ciclopean Crypts of Citadels." It includes 16 songs, five of which are bonus tracks taken from "Our Almighty Lords."

The band has a brutal and unrelenting gore-metal assault. Tottenkorps contains all the elements of death metal, but add various moods throughout the album.

Tottenkorps was formed in 1989 in Santiago, Chile. They have two previous demos, the first, "The King of Hell Reclaims His Throne," released in 1990 and the second, "Our Almighty Lords," released in 1993.

Tottenkorps are definitely a new addition for death metal fans, but - as usual - those who do not like death metal will think it all sounds the same.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
