THYRFING

"Farsotstider" (Candlelight; 2006)

Reviewed by Snidermann

This is my first experience with Thyrfing, a Swedish heavy metal band that that, simply put, rocks hard. I may not understand a single word of any of the songs but the message comes across with a vengeance.

The band has been together for eleven years and the chemistry is a living thing, almost another member of the band. As I listened to this CD, I was nodding my head, agreeing with everything. I didn't know a damn thing that was being said but I was agreeing nonetheless.

This is power metal at its best, done with a method and a purpose that puts it high above most of the other power metal acts out there.

After visiting the band's website at www.thyrfing.com, I discovered they have five previous full-length releases and now I am going to have to go out and buy the rest of their catalog. They are that good.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
