THURSDAY

"Waiting" (Eyeball Records; 2000)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

I’m starting with another debut release from a band I’ve never heard of. They'd be listed under Emo and Screamo. Thursday have the painful singer leading them and whining all over each track. Two of the songs deal with suicide, a very emotional subject, then add some anger for uncontrolled actions and the screamo trait emerges.

I guess I’ll never get into this type of music. Call me narrow minded, call me what you want, but music is supposed to be uplifting and give you energy. You can’t work out to emo; it’s just lost on me.

The guitar never really stays in one place and when it does get going the lead singer pulls the reigns and starts his wa wa. The drums do sound good, but I couldn’t tell you anything more than that.

As I said before, I started with Thursday. T.G.I.F. The sooner the better.

Thursday: Tom - guitar; Tucker – drums; Bill – guitar; Geoff – vocals; Tim- bass.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
