THEM CROOKED VULTURES

"Them Crooked Vultures" (DGC/Interscope; 2009)

"Supergroup." Each musical genre would define it differently. Chickenfoot (Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar) are a Supergroup. And I would also call Them Crooked Vultures a super group.

Featuring John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters and Nirvana) and Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age), plus guitarist Alain Johannes during live performances. That's a supergroup. And the music on this CD is worthy of the moniker as well. The music here is truly outstanding and really needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Well worth the effort, "Them Crooked Vultures" is really one of the best recordings I have heard in quite a while. The one and only negative in my mind: I'd like to hear more Dave Grohl on vocals than Josh Homme. A personal preference ... maybe, but it would have improved this recording just that much for me.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
