TEXAS TALIBAN

"Runs on Hate" (Pavement Music; 2021)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

The folks who make up Texas Taliban seem to be pretty pissed off about things. Just listen to their EP, "Runs on Hate," and let their fury overtake you.

Much like their Texas neighbors, Pantera, Texas Taliban deliver their musical rage with chunky guitars, fiery leads, screaming vocals and a rhythm section that has the speed and power of a out-of-control locomotive. The exception here is the closer, "Tu Rey Muerto," with its awesome flamenco guitar and slower pace. The song crescendos into roaring vocals and crushing guitars but it all fits so well together it's a little shocking ... and my favorite track on the EP.

If you need to share your rage, then Texas Taliban seem to be the folks to do it with.

Texas Taliban: Christo Cydwell – vocals; Erich King – lead guitar; Ramsey Speed – drums; Hexx Lee – guitar; Crystal Lopez – bass.
