TERROR

"Rhythm Amongst the Chaos" (Reaper; 2007)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

It's good to see that some things don't change, and one of those things is Terror's no-holds-barred hardcore.

The bad news is that "Rhythm Amongst the Chaos" is just an EP. There are just five tracks here and one of them is a cover (of Breakdown's "Kickback). And, in typical Terror fashion, the longest song is just 2:43 (the shortest being just 1:26!).

The good news is that, after you give "Rhythm Amongst the Chaos" a listen, you'll be thirsting for more. Terror's talent for taking old school hardcore and making it sound fresh and new is readily apparent throughout the CD, and the band has lost none of its ability to inject brutal, honest intensity into fat metal riffs and raging yet coherent vocals.

I don't know if Terror is at work on a new full length but I'm more than ready for it if they are.

"Lowest of the Low" (Bridge Nine; 2003)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Terror's hardcore, old school punk is just the antidote for a world filled with more Blink 182 clones than are necessary for three worlds, much less one. The band's unadulterated rage and speed go hand in hand as they rip through nine tracks in just over 16 minutes. In fact, if you're counting just minutes, "Lowest of the Low" almost qualifies as an EP. If you're counting tracks, however, you've got a full CD here with nine of 'em.

If you're feeling lethargic, down-in-the-dumps or just overdosed with spongerock, then a little dose of Terror is just what you're looking for. It's pure aggression - both musically and lyrically - compressed onto CD and it rocks hard and makes no apologies for kicking your ass.

Terror: Scott Vogel - vocals; Nick Jett - drums; Todd Jones - guitar; Rich Thurston - bass; Doug Weber - guitar.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
