COREY TAYLOR

"CFMB...Sides" (Roadrunner; 2022)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Corey Taylor, singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, has released a recording called "CMFB . . Sides." This has some very unique covers that perhaps only people from a certain age group would appreciate and I happen to be just that age group! Covers include:
"Holier Than Thou" – Metallica
"All This And More" – Dead Boys
"Kansas" – Corey Taylor
"Shakin'" – Eddie Money
"Home/Zzyzx" – Stone Sour (live)
"Lunatic Fringe" – Red Rider
"Got To Choose" – Kiss
"Halfway Down" – Corey Taylor
"On The Dark Side" – John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band (from the movie Eddie and The Cruisers).

Anyone who is reading this review must know who Corey Taylor is and what kind of music he represents. It is usually kick ass metal, with screaming vocals, thundering music and a shitload of attitude. If you want that Corey Taylor, go to Slipknot and Stone Sour and listen to that music, because that ain't what you get here. What you do get is high quality music and just what Corey Taylor wants to put out and if you don’t like that, well fuck you. This is music he likes and the music that inspired him and that is just what this is.

Of particular note is the cover of  "On the Dark Side" from one of the best rock'n'roll movies of all time, "Eddie and The Cruisers." People who have seen this movie or listened to the soundtrack know what I am talking about.
