SUBCYDE

"Subcyde" (Last Entertainment; 2007)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Swedish quartet Subcyde's vengeance screams metal on their eponymous 11-track disc. This band's style falls somewhere within the Pantera plus Meshuggah marker but is ultimately greatly diminished due to its sheer derivative nature.

Subcyde does manage to hit hard, groove thick, and growl convincingly, but many bands happen to pound out the same batterings with a bit more uniqueness and style, leaving Subcyde to go back and try to find something all their own.

Subcyde: Johan Wikforss – drums; Ola Englund – Guitars; Martin Anderson – Bass; Antonio da Silva - Vocals.
