STRATA

"Strata" (Wind up; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

In this day and age of music and all its incarnations, many bands borrow sounds and styles from one another and, if it works, they continue to duplicate it. Here at RoughEdge.com, we call that spongerock.

Strata is yet a another example of the spongerock genre. Their self-titled CD is okay, but nothing special. It sounds just like a dozen other power pop bands out there right now.

In fact, "Strata" a free .mp3 of a song from this CD came with my download of Winamp. That's just about as generic as you can get.

I'll throw the band 1 1/2 guitarsaws for effort, but they get none for originality.
