STIFF DONUT

"I Did It All for the Cookie" (Self-produced; 2006)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Stiff Donut is another CD by the guys responsible for Totally Fucking Gay and, although it's not enough to grant them a pardon for that horrible CD, it's a couple of steps up on the evolutionary ladder.

Think of Devo meets Nine Inch Nails with much lower production values and you get an idea of what "I Did It All For the Cookie" is all about. Robotic vocals, bizarre electronic guitars and percussion that sounds more mechanical than it does human. That's Stiff Donut.

Hey, at least this CD has some lyrics that might make you smile, unlike the previously mentioned one. "Emo Guys Love to Fuck" is a perfect example and there are many other lines in other songs that will make you either laugh out loud, cringe, or roll your eyes in disgust.

Most of the time, however, you'll be asking yourself "What the hell is this?" But you may just get through the entire CD before you do so.

Stiff Donut: Mike, Steve, Larry, Jon, Ron, Mike.

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
