STEELCITY
"Reverence" (Frontiers Records, Srl; 2024)
Reviewed by Snidermann
The first time I listened to SteelCity's "Reverence," I felt a kinship to music that I grew up listening to, like Kiss, AC/DC, Winger, Aerosmith and Cheap Trick just to name a few. The music hit me like a brick with a feathers' touch. When the recording started it felt good; interesting, familiar, engaging, thought-provoking and a few more adjectives I have yet to come up with. "Reverence" is the third release of this highly talented band.
When I surf the internet, I sometimes see the question
"What does the United States contribute to the world view?"
That's not the actual question, but it
does sound better don’t you think? Two
things that come to my mind right off the top: higher education and rock'n'roll
music.
Well, SteelCity is just such a band and,
all in all, "Reverence" is an awesome recording. This shit is just good solid
music that rocks like a bitch.
Each song is a finely crafted ditty and
it just keeps getting better the more I listen to it.
Heavy chord progression music with keyboard and killer bass guitar adds a dimension of sound that just makes the band sound better. What makes good music? What makes it interesting, entertaining, sell-able? What makes people buy outrageously expensive concert tickets? Well, I have spent more than half my life trying to figure that out and trying to put it out in review form. I have come to this conclusion: I have no fucking idea. What I do know is that I like SteelCity. They put out good quality music that is well worth the effort of a listen.
The band has previously released two other recordings and, if they are as good as this one, I am sure I am going to like it.
