SPEW

"Torn to Shreds" (Self-released; 2009)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Spew's "Torn to Shreds," with its horrorific cartoonish cover, is kind of a combination thrash/hardcore album with powerful, driving rhythms, raging guitars and hardcore vocals (as much of a shout as anything else). The lyrics are all about partying, the results of partying, and fighting.

There may be nothing particularly new or original here but the entire CD rocks hard. At times, Spew reminds me of the legendary Sacred Reich who are definitely more of a thrash band than a hardcore band. And I love Sacred Reich.
