SOUNDBITE

"Tearing Away" (RainGod)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Soundbite has a peppy, poppy yet technically impressive sound that only the more daring of Rough Edge readers will probably find intriguing.

Soundbite's six track EP took me by surprise. First, I was expecting something a little harder-edged than the band's pop-rock sound. Second, because it's a pretty listenable CD. Sure, it's not hard rock or heavy metal, but it's got excellent production values, features impressive musicianship and is extremely well-written. Extremely melodic.

Personnel: Geoff Cawood, guitars/vocals; Keith Westhead, bass; Nick Church, drums.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
