SOUND AND FURY

"Wake the Dead" (Rebel Youth; 2014)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Sound and Fury's "Wake the Dead" seems to want to do just that. This album is a raucous rock'n'roll record that's all about big, aggressive guitars (think dirty AC/DC) and shouted vocals. In fact, the lead vocalist here sounds like The Beastie Boys on the classic track "(Your Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)."

It's rough, it's raw and it balances dangerously on the knifeblade between hard rock and punk rock. If that fine line is where you like to stand, too, you'll like everything about Sound and Fury.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
