SOULLESS

"Agony's Lament" (Crash; 2003)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

It's always nice when an album starts off with a bang, and this Soulless CD does just that with "Bleeding Darkness," a breakneck-paced, Swedish death metal homage. The rest of the songs are more of the same: full-on, lightning fast thrash that many bands from Sweden have brought back into the spotlight. But "Agony's Lament" also offers a nice thread of old school stuff like Kreator and early Slayer running through songs like "The Soulscythe."

The real question is this: Are you up for a 33-minute, unrelenting metal assault? If the guitar outro solo in "Terror of Twilight" can't make you say yes, then you're not all the metal fan you could be.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
