SLOMOSA
"Tundra Rock" (MNRK Heavy; 2024)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Slomosa is a rock band out of Bergen, Norway. The name of the recording is "Tundra Rock" and, from the very first spin, I knew it was something special.
Slomosa has the well-grounded feel that you want all garage bands to have: gritty, raw and with a quality that would sound really good in someone's basement with one or more kegs of beer and people just hanging around having a good time.
When I play air guitar, I am never the lead guitar but always the rhythm guitar, like Malcolm Young, Paul Stanley, Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), just to name a few. I was playing air guitar right from the first spin of this album and I continued it right now when I finished listening to this recording for the fourth time.
I hate the term "stoner rock" however, here it's kinda appropriate although I'd say the sound here is much bigger and stronger than that. This band sounds great and the louder I play them the better I like them. The vocals seem a bit strange and when I read their bio I found they were from Norway and I don’t think English is their first language. With a little work and time I think that could be fix.
Probably the best thing I like about "Tundra Rock" is the rawness. It's not over produced, it's just pure grit and talent.
Slomosa is a quality rock band that a expect good things in the future.
