SKELETAL
REMAINS
"Fragments of the Ageless" (Century
Media; 2024)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Sometimes I just need my ears to bleed musically. Not
all the time, but sometimes I do and luckily I am in the right business for that
.
Skeletal Remains and their recording Fragments of
the Ageless was just what I needed, and gave me the opportunity to hear the
"heavy" in "heavy metal." The thunderous, pounding double bass drums and bass
guitar sets a strong backbone for the guitars and vocals to bring the entire
project to a deeper and darker depth. You may be able to hear what the singer is
saying, vocally; however, the lyrics are deep and dark and may take some time to
sink in. Better yet, just go with the flow. Let this album take you for its
bumpy ride.
Trying to explain to someone why you like metal music
is like trying to explain color to a blind person: Sometimes, it's better not
attempted. But if you like explosive music that is fun and loud on a heavy metal
canvas, Skeletal Remains (also what a great fucking name for a band) is the
audio painter who you're looking for.
