SINISTHRA

"Last of the Stories of Long Past Glories" (Arise; 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

As I listen to Sinisthra's "Last of the Stories of Long Past Glories," I can't put a finger on just what style of music the band is trying to deliver. Even after a few spins, I still can't.

Sinisthra shows a lot of potential and talent here but I just can't get on board. The music is too drawn out and the vocals too whiny.

In fact, the best part of CD is its title, "Last of the Stories of Long Past Glories." From that title, you'd think the band has a point to make; from the music, however, you get the feeling they got lost in the process.

I like my music harder and faster and, on "Last of the Stories..." Sinisthra is neither. Although the band shows signs of life at times, it is too little and way too late.
