THE SICK
"Code of Growth" (The Edge Recordz; 2000)
Reviewed by Paco
The week that I bought this CD, I had a big problem. Actually, I had purchased two CD's - this one from The Sick and "Live @ The Key Club" by Pennywise. The problem I had is that I could not listen to both CDs at the same time and I really wanted to find some way to do it.
On the one hand, Pennywise is my all-time favorite
band and their "Live @ the Key Club" CD kicks ass. On the other hand, The Sick is
the finest hardcore punk I've ever heard. It's melodic, hard and fast with great lyrics and lots of variety. I saw The Sick live about a
year ago in a small club in San Francisco and they totally kicked ass. Right after that show, they left for a European tour, then
recorded this CD. Even though they were awesome before, their song writing has improved and
their music is tighter than ever. There are 14 tracks on this CD and not one of them is bad.
The Sick is four punks from the Bay Area: Tony Bonilla on vocals, Steve Wright on guitar, Warner
Harrison on bass and Nicky Bernardi on drums.

A classic. This record will kick your ass.
Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.
So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
