SERIOUS SUICIDE

"Off With Your Head" (Blammy Bros.)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

As you can see, Serious Suicide's album cover boasts a woman in a wedding dress wielding a large butcher knife dripping with blood, yet the seven tracks on the album are not nearly as dangerous.

On the contrary, this Hollywood-based female-fronted quartet harkens back to the days of shock rockers a la Alice Cooper with a touch of Blondie thrown in for musical direction.

It may be a little difficult to take songs like "Fuck Me Until I'm Dead" seriously, but that particular tune contains a memorable hook and a real flashback sound that you may mistake for something recorded in the UK circa 1982. The real kicker here, however, is the pseudo-Gothic cover of "To Sir With Love" - the song your mom and dad probably held hands to - which caps off Serious Suicide's campy yet thoroughly entertaining disc.
