SECOND COMING
"Second Coming" (Capitol; 1998)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Capitol recording artist Second Coming is a large, combined dosage of in-your-face metal and bleeding heart folk music. I can't figure out if they are a Christian metal band or not, but it doesn't really matter: Music won't convert me, metal is metal. Second Coming rocks, pure and simple, with moving guitar work accompanied with tight yet free flowing songwriting. Some of the tunes tend to ramble on and frankly some of the words are disturbing and more than a little depressing. Other than that, however, there is nothing complicated or really very original about Second Coming: it's just good, down-to-earth rock'n'roll. If you like your rock'n'roll simple, pure and straightforward I think you will like Second Coming. (I would have giving them a higher rating if not for some of the droning tunes.)
Second Coming is Travis Bracht, vocals; Dudley Taft, guitar and keyboards; James Brestrom, drums; Yanni "Jonny" Bacolas, bass.
