RUE

"Rue" (Shifty Records; 2003)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Made up of members of Fistula and former members of Hate Theory and The Pillow Humpers, Rue paints a bleak, dark picture of reality. Remarkably, instead of being depressed by it, I find their CD inspiring!

Their sludgy hardcore is explosive, efficient and played with enthusiasm and heart. The vocals do get a bit one dimensional, but that's hardcore and, anyway, they seem to work very good for this band.

Rue sounds great but I don't think it would hurt them to lighten up once in awhile! Still, all in all, "Rue" is a very enjoyable listening experience.

Rue: Jeff Faul - vocals; Burns - guitar; Corey - drums; Bahb - bass.
