ROMEO'S DEAD
"It's All Your Fault" (Fastlane Records)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Chunky, rough-edged guitars, pounding "we-mean-business" drums, vocals with just a hint of a snotty attitude, songs that are - the most part - full of pep and verve. Romeo's Dead are an interesting combination of the Ramones and Guns N'Roses, with the best of both of those bands blended together for a unique, punk/metal/glam sound that's almost instantly addictive.
Lyrically, Romeo's Dead may bring you down a bit. With song titles like "I Don't Wanna Hear Any Lovesongs Today," "X-girlfriends and Insomnia" and "We are the Hated," much of "It's All Your Fault" is angst-ridden. Still, the band's unique and undeniable drive and excellent song-writing ability make it hard not to want to mosh.
Played at full volume, "Romeo's Dead" sounds even better. I bet it works great live.
