PUTRID INBRED

"Scavenger" (Shiver; 2007)

Reviewed by Christopher J. Kelter

Putrid Inbred is a Belgian brutal death metal outfit that blends in grind to the maelstrom with great effect. I don’t think brutal death metal is particularly concerned with expanding their footprint on the metal world – let’s face it, the market for brutal death and grind is fairly limited. The lyrics skew heavily toward cannibalism – perfect brutal death subject matter.

Dual dueling vocalists give Putrid Inbred a slant of originality in the death metal genre. Like most brutal death bands the songs are riff-centric – although I do hear a slight modernity on the songs via breakdowns and patterns that more closely resemble modern metal as opposed to classic death metal.

“Scavenger” was produced by Kris Belaen and Putrid Inbred.

Putrid Inbred is Peutie and Steven on vocals, Lieven on guitars, Mike on bass, and Kristof on drums.
