PUMPJACK
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Midland, TX's Pumpjack is kick-ass pure rock and their own description of their sound ("Kind of like AC/DC meets Clutch meets C.O.C.") is pretty damn accurate.
Their four-track demo CD ran the gamut of sounding a bit like Rob Zombie, a bit like Lynyrd Skynyrd/Molly Hatchet and a lot like Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society. All in all - good, solid stuff. No modern pussy-footing around, just solid, powerful hard rock.
PUMPJACK: Thurber Mingus - vocals, guitar; Garner Phellps - lead guitar; Willie Hicks - bass; R. Skinner Dobbs - drums.
