POWERWOLVES

"You Won't Find Peace" (Panic; 2011)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

Hardcore and short blasts of it are what make this band's second disc a brute fest. Powerwolves don't waste anytime explaining themselves, they just kick your head repeatedly and, if you don't have a migraine, then you didn't do it right. Frontman Dave Witkum will let you know what he thinks in just a few words. The guitar is brutal and, with riffs that dig deep into your brain, it's only a matter of time before Powerwolves have grooved their brand of hardcore into your unsuspecting mind.

There are only nine songs here, so "You Won't Find Peace" can be played over and over to your neighbor's disgust. The cool thing about this disc is that they inject some melody on a few songs so it's not just a teeth smashing good time thoughout the entire disc. You can also hear some punk/metal on a few cuts but the hardcore brand still exists so those who need a steady bolt of heavy will still get their fix.
