PORTABLE

"Portable" (TVT Records; 1999)

Reviewed by Mr. Dude

TVT Records, which first brought us NIN, has now released Portable's self-titled CD. This is a seven song collection of catchy songs on the heavier side of life. "Help Yourself" rocks well, and "All Over Again" should become a hit with the kiddies, not to mention a cool rendition of Gary Numan's song "Cars" (I hate the original version).

This CD will be playing on your favorite radio station soon so steal it now so you can say you liked them before they were famous, like I did with Milli Vanilli.

Portable: Chance - singing and strumming; Gus Ciceri - strumming; Jeff Menke - plucking; Brian Levy - banging.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
