THE PORRIDGE FACE

"Canon of Ugliness" (Killers By Trade; 2011)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

"Canon of Ugliness" is a pretty solid rock’n’roll album, especially considering it's one guy doing everything including drums, guitars, songwriting and singing. His name is Anders Lindberg and he’s probably one of those artists that could do even better by delegating some of the work. But some of us are control freaks. I've been called one myself.

Still, Anders is more than satisfactory on everything here. The songs run from low-level thrash anthems to driving hard rockers and, for the most part, it all works pretty well. The production is a little soft but is never a big detraction. The songs due tend to run together a little bit but again, not too much.

Good work, especially for one guy. Makes you wonder what Anders could do with a little backup!
