"Poets and Pornstars"

"Dirty rock'n'roll, chock full of hooks and attitude that's ready for both the strip club or the rock club." That phrase best describes the 10-track disc by the curiously-named quintet Poets and Pornstars.
These Sunset Strip throwbacks reveal shades of bands that made an impact without excessive Aqua Net (like Brother Cane, Junkyard, tourmates Tesla, and early Def Leppard) with their substance-filled hockey arena anthems like "Spy Vs. Spy" and "Strange." Reveling in producing hard-nosed three chord rock that shares as much in common with The Rolling Stones' earlier days as it does newer acts like Buckcherry and Silvertide, songs like "Get Your Kicks" are infectiously raucous rock'n'roll numbers that transcend time, while "Partners in Crime" displays the quintet's bluesy and toned-down chops.
If hair metal was to make a comeback, this group would surely lead the fold, as this eponymous endeavor suggests an understanding of rock'n'roll's underbelly rarely heard in today's musical landscape.
